Visiting Johnson's Rock Shop & Museum in Livingston, Texas

Tucked away on a series of dirt roads in Livingston, Texas is an emporium of rocks and sculptures from around the world housed in a series of small buildings. This is a geologist's wonderland.

Buildings at Johnson's Rock Shop & Museum in Livingston, Texas

Loosely arranged by theme, every building has multiple layers of shelves filled with figurines, crystals, geodes, fossils, arrowheads, and other rock-based artifacts.

Countries represented in the shop include Morocco, Peru, and China. Prices range from a few cents to several hundred dollars, so there are items at every price point, from the beginning collector to die-hard rock fans.

My personal favorite pieces include tiny woolly mammoth figurines, rock trees, and jade lion dogs.

The only downside is that many buildings are accessible only by stairs, so anyone with mobility issues will have great difficulty navigating the space. Even so, I would encourage anyone visiting southeast Texas to stop by this unique shop.
