Visiting Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center in Orange, Texas

The day after "Super Tuesday", I took a field trip with my fellow park rangers to Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center in Orange, Texas. We received a special guided tour and learned all about the wide variety of plants and wildlife in the gardens.

These gardens a free to the public and open on Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pathways are wide and easy to navigate, with multiple seating areas. In addition to walking the grounds, the gardens host a range of kids camps and adult programs for minimal fees. The gardens also offers tours in Adams Bayou, which is only accessible by their specially outfitted pontoon watercraft, and are also free of charge. The boat tours are not open right now due to COVID-19 reopening restrictions.
